When reading about the Brazilian artist Joao Carvalho I learned that he has a very large skill set for only being 15. In order to make drawings like this it is a very long process. First he had to make blue lines that look like the notebook paper lines. Then he has to blend them in using a series of shading. After all of this detailed work it seems to appear as 3D. He mainly does characters from disney but also occasionally does other scenic 3D models. This piece specifically stood out to me because of the details and effort need while shading in order to make this kind of artwork.

So far I have learned a lot about how the different brushes can paint different patterns. Not only do the difference sizes make different types of landscapes but using something like a toothbrush instead of an actual brush with give the overall look a different texture. Something that I also did while putting on the texture was after it dried I layered it with a different colors that complimented it. When using the brushes softly I often ended up with a soft watercolor like result, but when I applied a lot of pressure the colors were darker and more dramatic. The overall surface that I used had a darker colors that I used to contrast with the lighter colors. Since paint is a wet material I could not try using it dry. There are a lot of other things that I still need to learn before doing my final project. Some of the things that I could learn by play before my actual project are using dry brush and wet brush. By experiencing this I can see what the difference between dry and wet acrylic is. Stippling and dabbing are certain things that I want to try out to figure out if I want to make scenery. Stippling is using a mass of dots to create an entire scene, using background scenes. Dabbing is when you take the tip of a sponge and dab on different colors that compliment each other to create scenery. Other than that I am interested in detailing and one of the ways that I care to do that is by searching specific tutorials such as how to do an eye.
When reading about Bernardo Bellotto I learned that Bernardo was often shadowed by his older uncle Canaletto. They both lived outside of Italy but had several differences. The reason that Bellotto's work was often mistaken for Canaletto's was because they lived in the same area and painted the same type of landscapes. They were known for doing the same types of landscapes because of the high demand for landscaping portraits.
I think that the habits I have made while drawing for many years impacts the way that I sketch. I think that it impacts the way that I sketch by not letting me make small, thoughtless lines. I think that the blind contour drawing didn't work well for me because I am not used to not picking up the pen, which made it hard for me to draw certain objects. Since doing these different activities I think I have improved overall by being less afraid of failure. One piece that I feel that I did exceptionally well on is this one. One of the reasons that I favor this piece is because of the way that the smaller lines put a lot of detail into the man.
I liked the way that he used the different colors because of the way that they contrasted, but I disliked it because there are some aspects that I found boring. I would not hang this artwork in my house because I find it boring. I think that this artist's artwork is not abstract because of the similar colors, but it does look very realistic. An interesting fact that I found about Claude Monet is that his father wanted him to be working at a grocery store but he pursued his dream as an artist instead.
